It is funded by the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Programme, Action V.3.1. Development of UW staff competencies.

The programme, which aims to support the development of the competencies necessary to work with doctoral students, is aimed at persons employed at the University of Warsaw who act as supervisors (including assistant supervisors) of doctoral dissertations.

Training topics address key areas of development needs for supervisors, including but not limited to:

  • formal, legal and organisational issues concerning the monitoring
  • of the dissertation and doctoral degree process,
  • shaping the collaboration with the doctoral student.

Supervisors may take part in the programme’s training courses of their choice. Training is conducted in a lecture and workshop format. The number of available places for training courses conducted in a workshop format is limited. The order of applications decides.

Two editions of the programme have been implemented so far, with the third edition scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025. In each edition, supervisors receive invitations to register for training before the start of the programme.
