Academy of Academic Teaching and Learning Management
Academy of Academic Teaching and Learning Management
The main objective of the Academy, implemented from December 2020 to March 2022, was to strengthen the Heads of Teaching and Learning Units in their roles as managers of teaching and learning processes in the units. The training offer covered a wide range of topics – from the legal foundations of activities performed by the heads of teaching and learning units, cooperation and collaboration with other statutory bodies in the field of teaching and learning, various aspects of organising the teaching and learning process, to supervising the quality of teaching and learning. The introduction of a training module in managerial competencies (in cooperation with the International Management Center of the Faculty of Management) and the possibility for heads of teaching and learning units to benefit from coaching support were also of great importance.
The programme, which consisted of training of approximately 100 teaching hours, was attended by a total of 120 people, including mainly heads of teaching and learning units. Heads of studies and chairpersons of teaching councils also participated in selected training. The content of the programme was supervised by the Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching, prof. UW, dr hab. Sławomir Żółtek, and the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Quality of Teaching and Learning, dr Justyna Godlewska-Szyrkowa, in cooperation with experts from the UW, thanks to whom it was continuously adapted to the needs of the participants.
Feedback from participants indicates that the Academy was an essential event for the professional development of employees supervising teaching and learning at the University of Warsaw. At the same time, it has become an important venue for integrating the community of persons in charge of the teaching and learning processes at the University. Moreover, it has served the crucial function of a forum for the exchange of experience, good practice and collegial support.
The Programme was financed from resources of the European Social Fund under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development in the Integrated Development Programme at the University of Warsaw.
