Learning University
Following the idea of “lifelong learning”, the University of Warsaw aims to provide its employees with opportunities to improve their qualifications in the workplace in areas that are part of the university’s development directions. To meet the expectations of our employees, we have developed the “Learning University” competition.
This initiative is carried out with funding from the “Excellence Initiative – Research University (2020-2026)” Programme, Action V.3.1. Development of UW staff competencies.
The competition aims to enable employees of the University under a contract of employment (or on the basis of an appointment), whether academics, administrative staff, librarians, IT specialists, technicians or other professional groups, to develop themselves, improve their present competencies and acquire new ones.
The competition brings tangible benefits not only to the employees who invest in their personal development, take on new professional challenges, and thus increase their sense of self-worth in the workplace, but also to the organisational units in the form of investment in their development, an increase in the quality of the tasks carried out and, above all, an increase in the motivation of the employees who work for the organisation.
The competition is open to funding for part-time first-cycle, second-cycle or long-cycle studies and post-diploma studies (excluding MBA-type studies).
So far, we have held two editions of the competition, which our employees have very well received. This interest in upskilling confirms how important this initiative is for the academic community and prompts us to look for opportunities to launch the next edition of the competition in 2025.
