Pilot Programme for Young Researchers in the Social Sciences
The Pilot Programme for Young Researchers in the Social Sciences was implemented from November 2022 to December 2023 by the Centre of Excellence in Social Sciences in collaboration with the Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies and with the support of the Human Resources Office.
The programme aimed to test, in a UW setting, tools to support young researchers in their research career development and in the research development process itself, including a tool to support the creation of research career plans based on a solution acquired during the collaboration with the 4EU+ Alliance universities. Several units representing different social science disciplines were invited to participate in the pilot edition of the programme, with 10 researchers among the participants.
The programme participants were allowed to work with a mentor, including mentors from foreign universities, consult with a research career path advisor, and participate in training and workshops to improve research and managerial competencies.
In addition, participants could benefit from funding for travel for research purposes.
The Programme was funded by the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Programme (Action I.3.3 Establishing the Centre of Excellence in Social Sciences (CESS), Action IV.1.3 “From the Diamond Grant to the ERC Grant” – development of individual research career plans and Action V.3.1 Development of UW Staff competencies).
